- Get on WhatsApp -

Auckland readers of can now sign up to get the day's major news sent directly to their smartphones with a new service using WhatsApp.

An alert each morning provides a rundown of the biggest stories and everything they need to know about what’s going on in Auckland. And readers never miss out on breaking news with
alerts sent straight to their phone. They can also respond to Stuff messages and share photos and thoughts on the news of the day.

Cathy O’Sullivan, Auckland EditorinChief, says WhatsApp is a great new way to get stories to readers in Auckland.

“We're targeting our biggest city for launch the project is being led from our Auckland newsroom. We’ll use feedback from readers to help us shape the service and the types of
stories we deliver to that audience. If they like the service and the content then we may look to roll it out to other areas to deliver alerts about what's relevant to their part of the country.”

WhatsApp is one of the fastest growing messaging apps which works across all smartphone platforms, including iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry.
