New Zealand Joins Top Ten Creative Countries

21 Oct 2010

New Zealand has entered the top ten of the world's most creative countries in the new edition of the Cannes Report, a book that captures the results of this year's international Cannes Lions Festival, for which Fairfax Media is New Zealand's country representative.

The Cannes Lions Festival is a gathering of the world's communications professionals, and at the Festival awards are given out to the best creatives globally.

Fairfax Media nominated five jury members who judged the 2010 entries, and sent two young media and two young creatives to join the Cannes Young Lions, which focuses on creatives and marketers at the Festival aged 30 and under.

In the Cannes Report, NZ ranks at number nine, two places higher than in 2009, while Auckland is named the seventh most creative city in the world.

The report also notes that two of the ten most awarded agencies in Asia Pacific are based in New Zealand and the 2010 Direct Lions Grand Prix was awarded to Special Group Auckland.
