Robert Savage Retires from Fairfax Media Board and James Miller is appointed to Fairfax Media

ROBERT SAVAGE RETIRES FROM FAIRFAX MEDIA BOARD 

JAMES MILLAR IS APPOINTED TO FAIRFAX MEDIA BOARD 

 

SYDNEY, 23 May 2012: Mr Roger Corbett, Chairman of the Board of Fairfax Media Limited [ASX: FXJ], today announced that Mr Robert Savage has decided to retire from the Board, effective 30 June, and that Mr James Millar has agreed to join the Board from 1 July this year. 

Mr Savage has served on the Board for five years, and has Chaired the People and Culture Committe since 2007. 

Mr Corbett said: “Bob has made an outstanding contribution to the Board and to Fairfax over the five years he has served as a director and we will miss him greatly. Bob has decided it is time to spend more time on his personal and family pursuits. We wish him the very best. 

“We are delighted that James has agreed to join the Fairfax Board and strongly believe that his business and professional expertise, broad commercial experience and the depth of his community involvement will be an invaluable addition to the Board.” 

Mr Millar is an experienced corporate executive, advisor and director of a number of companies and organisations. 

He is the former Chief Executive Officer and Oceania Area Managing Partner of Ernst & Young and was a member of the Ernst & Young Global Board. His career prior to the leadership roles at Ernst & Young was as a corporate reconstruction professional.  

Mr Millar is a director of Mirvac Limited and Jetset Travelworld, he is also the Chairman of Fantastic Holdings. 

Mr Millar is a director, trustee or member of a number of not-for-profit and charitable organisations, including Chairman of the Smith Family charity.
